Opportunity Description
Do you have a passion for healthcare and helping others? Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment? We are currently seeking a Patient Financial Services Representative to join our clients' Emergency Department team.
This position is an evening shift ranging from Monday through Friday 6 pm to 11 pm.
Job Duties
- Verify patient insurance eligibility
- Identify co-payment and deductible responsibilities
- Utilize technology tool to estimate patient responsibilities
- Initiate collection efforts consistent with EMTALA regulations and Hospital compliance standards
- Discuss payment alternatives as appropriate with patient or family representative
- Advise the patient of Charity Care or Medicaid opportunities as consistent with Hospital protocols
- Secure payment transactions and secure patient payment information
- Document collection activities and outcome as appropriate
- Complete logs and reports as required
- Greet patient and family members in a professional manner. Contact the nursing staff for emergency medical needs and answer patient and visitor questions
Experience & Skills Required
- At least one year of registration experience
- Communicates clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
- Establishes and maintains long-term customer relationships, building trust and respect by consistently meeting and exceeding expectations
- Ability to work effectively with other employees, patients, and external parties
- Demonstrated proficiency using PC applications as required
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of organizational policies, procedure, and systems (must take compliance training –which we will provide)
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, balance and reconcile figures, punctuate properly, spell correctly and transcribe accurately
