Opportunity Description
We are looking for an entry level candidate to join an established Environmental Services Laboratory team on a long-term contract basis. This is great opportunity to build your resume!!!
**All candidates must have prior hands-on laboratory and at least 12 college credits in chemistry, biology or environmental science**
Hours are Monday - Friday, 8am-4pm
Job Duties
- Performs sample accession on samples delivered to the laboratory and updates the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) by logging all necessary data;
- Establishes and maintains Chain-of-Custody (C-O-C) on delivered samples, stores and secures all samples and forms until released to analyst;
- Instructs client sample collectors in Laboratory Protocols for sample collection, sample preservation, and analysis holding times;
- Performs prescribed procedures of quality control such as: daily log of pH meter standardizations, refrigerator and incubator temperatures, specific conductivities of water samples, and analytical balance weights for precision and accuracy, standardizations of conductivity bridge, dissolved-oxygen meter, standardization of reagents, dyes and solutions, standard curves, matrix spiked and matrix duplicate samples, positive and negative controls, etc.;
- Cleans and prepares glassware for organic extractions, cleans and preserves sample bottles, solutions, reagents and equipment ensuring proper availability of work materials;
- Maintains assigned work areas, instrumentation and equipment in a clean and safe manner and at operational readiness;

Experience & Skills Required
- Prior hands on laboratory experience
- Safe chemical handling, ability to safely employ chemical handling techniques, follow established protocol and waste management procedures.
- Excellent PC skills which may include database entry/management (e.g. MS Office Suite).
- Excellent communication, organizational, presentation and interpersonal skills. Ability to write reports, effectively present information and respond to questions.
